The Through Their Eyes Project
Featuring photos taken by the Children of Zion Home
About The Through Their Eyes Project
I had the pleasure of volunteering with The Olive Branch For Children (TOBFC) for three weeks in November 2012. During my stay I was located at the Zion Home, in Mbeya, Tanzania, which houses and cares for over thirty vulnerable children orphaned by AIDS. Many of the children are HIV positive themselves through transmission at birth. Fortunately, they are being loved and supported by the incredible work of TOBFC.
With my interest in photography, I took six digital point-and-shoot cameras with me to donate to the organization. The children were thrilled and excited and soon taking photos of their friends and surrounding area. I was very pleased with their interest and eagerness to shoot. Upon my return to Canada I spent more time looking at their photos and began converting them to black and white with very pleasing results. The idea of showing the children's work soon transformed into the "Through Their Eyes" fundraising project which features these images shot by the children living at the Zion Home. By featuring and selling their own work they will be given the opportunity to help raise money for themselves for the Olive Branch For Children through an expression of their own creativity. I am very excited about this project and would encourage you to financially help TOBFC by supporting the project through the purchase of their work.
